Daikin Leading Critical Conversations at COP30 in Brazil
Author: Daikin U.S. Corporation
Published: November 10, 2025
Daikin, a world-leading HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) company, will play a leading role at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025.
The global gathering is a critical forum for Daikin to share ideas and opportunities around how heating and cooling solutions can support building decarbonization efforts while also strengthening energy resilience. Daikin will share its vision with the assembled group of international leaders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academia, business leaders and other groups gathering onsite. Leaders representing Daikin in Belém include Katsuyuki Sawai, Senior Executive Officer in charge of CSR, Global Environment and External Relations, and Dave Calabrese, Executive Vice President, Daikin U.S. Corporation.
Daikin is participating in the following events during COP30:
November 11, 2025
- Daikin will speak at a session of the Buildings and Cooling Pavilion organized by the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative promoting climate action in the buildings and construction sector.
- At the session, “Unlocking Energy Efficiency with Sustainable Cooling and Heating for Buildings,” Daikin will present its initiatives to promote the wider adoption of energy-efficient cooling and heat pump heating technologies that contribute to building decarbonization.
- Globally, the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that the operations of buildings account for 30% of global final energy consumption and 26% of global energy-related emissions[1] making the decarbonization of buildings a key international priority. Achieving carbon neutrality in buildings requires significant reductions in GHG emissions associated with HVAC systems. In particular, it is essential to reduce operational carbon emissions generated during building operations and energy use, which represent the majority of a building’s whole-life carbon.
- Against this backdrop, the session will bring together representatives from GlobalABC, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the UK Government, and the International Energy Agency (IEA) to discuss the importance of reducing CO2 emissions across the entire building lifecycle and the need to focus on minimizing operational carbon to accelerate global progress toward carbon neutrality in the building sector.
- Daikin will present its energy-saving HVAC solutions to significantly reduce operational carbon, as well as its heat pump heating and hot water technologies, while sharing ongoing initiatives to promote their wider adoption.
November 12, 2025
- Daikin will participate in a ‘bootcamp’ exploring how transition planning can help organizations to become resilient, generate value and ultimately act as a catalyst for growth.
- The event, hosted by KPMG and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and taking place at the Climate Action House COP30, will specifically focus on how to enable corporate and systemic mitigation and adaptation.
- Daikin will participate in the "SB COP Business Dialogue for a Low-Carbon Economy," hosted by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
- The event aims “to promote debate and networking among Brazilian industries, counterparts, and international organizations, with the purpose of boosting the transition to a low-carbon economy, in addition to discussing the advances and deliverables of the Sustainable Business COP (SB COP).”
November 13, 2025
- Daikin is a title sponsor of Newsweek’s Pillars of the Green Transition conference, which will bring together leaders from industry, conservation and academia to discuss key topics, including clean ways to meet rising power demand.
- At a panel titled “Cool Solutions to Decarbonize the Demand for AC,” Daikin U.S. Corporation Executive Vice President Dave Calabrese will share Daikin’s perspective on how Daikin’s three pillar strategy of advanced technology, a full lifecycle approach and smart policy adoption can help ensure countries like the U.S. can meet the increased demand for cooling while also supporting a strong electricity grid and building decarbonization.
November 14, 2025
- Daikin will join the seminar “Turning Avoided Emissions into Corporate Value - Paving the Way for Practical Action” organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) at the Japan Pavilion.
In addition to these sessions, Daikin is also scheduled to participate in the following programs held at the Buildings and Cooling Pavilion:
- November 14, 2025: “Making Heat Pumps the New Normal for Clean Heating”
- November 19, 2025: “Efficient Cooling and Ventilation for Comfort and Decarbonization”
Furthermore, at the Japan Pavilion, the company will exhibit how its energy-saving HVAC solutions prevent excessive cooling while achieving significant energy savings. (For details, see Daikin’s press release “Exhibiting at the COP30 Japan Pavilion.”)
Through its participation in COP30, including session presentations and exhibitions, Daikin aims to communicate its vision, technologies, and solutions for achieving carbon neutrality to policymakers and international organizations, helping to accelerate their adoption and contribute to energy resilience and the decarbonization of buildings.
As a global leader in the HVAC industry, Daikin remains committed to addressing global environmental and energy challenges and contributing to a more sustainable society.
