One World Trade Center – Engineering Resilience and Renewal

Rising 1,776 feet from Ground Zero, One World Trade Center (1 WTC) stands as a powerful symbol of American resilience and renewal. As the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, 1 WTC presented an immense challenge: every mechanical and life-safety system had to meet strict building codes and achieve LEED Gold certification.

Daikin Applied stepped up to this challenge, proudly designing and delivering 166 SWP Vintage G self-contained cooling and heating systems. Installed across 50 floors, these systems passed rigorous efficiency, indoor air quality, and sound-performance testing—exceeding ASHRAE 90.1 standards. Key features included high-pressure shell condensers, variable frequency drives, advanced Building Automation System controls, energy-efficient scroll compressors, and waterside economizers.

Daikin’s collaborative engineering approach was instrumental in helping One World Trade Center achieve the prestigious LEED Gold certification, establishing the building as a beacon of innovation and hope.
