OSAKA, Japan, May 21, 2024 - In 2024, Daikin Industries, Ltd. celebrated 100th anniversary of its founding. To mark this significant achievement, Daikin held a commemorative ceremony on Tuesday, May 21 at The Symphony Hall (Kita-ku, Osaka). The event was attended by approximately 2,000 people including distinguished guests, business partners, and Daikin Group employees from both Japan and overseas. During the ceremony, company representatives expressed appreciation to all those who have supported Daikin and pledged to continue the growth and development of the company for the next 100 years.
“From a small factory of 15 people at our founding, we have transformed Daikin into a global company with operations in more than 170 countries worldwide, and I am personally mindful of just how far we have come,” said Noriyuki Inoue, Chairman of the Board and Chief Global Group Officer, reflecting on the company’s growth at the ceremony. Inoue also expressed his expectations toward future growth, mentioning “With the spirit of learning from the past and applying those lessons to the future, we would like to further refine our technological capabilities, which are the lifeline for a manufacturer, and contribute to society through our technology.”
“Our ability to overcome numerous hardships and continue to grow and develop over the past 100 years lies in the good corporate culture built by our predecessors and Daikin’s unique strengths, which could be called the source of our competitiveness. We now have the opportunity for a fresh start to further evolve these strengths,” said Masanori Togawa, President and CEO. Togawa also expressed his determination for future growth, stating, “Daikin will continue in the future to be a corporate group that grows by satisfying customers and earning trust, while working to increase environmental and social value and contribute to the creation of a new society."
Daikin was founded in 1924 as Osaka Kinzoku Kogyosho Limited Partnership. Beginning with the production of radiator tubes for aircraft, the company has commercialized many advanced technologies, including the development of Japan’s first fluorocarbons and packaged air conditioner along with the world’s first VRV system multi-split air conditioner for commercial buildings. With 125 production bases around the world and approximately 100,000 group employees, Daikin has become the leading global HVAC&R company and can respond to the needs of diverse cultures and values around the world in providing products and services that create healthy and comfortable spaces through the power of air.
To further commemorate its 100th anniversary in 2024, a major milestone for the company, Daikin will work to strengthen support for its "Forests for the Air" project in seven global locations as one of its social contribution activities, revise its “Group Philosophy,” convene a Daikin Group Management Meeting, where roughly 300 senior managers will assemble to discuss management issues, and update company work uniforms at its manufacturing plants.
